About the Course
Tong Bei Quan – The Art of Penetrating Power
Unleash Explosive Energy from Root to Fist
Tong Bei Quan (通背拳), meaning “Through the Back Fist,” is an old style Chinese martial art known for its long-range strikes, whipping power, and devastating explosiveness. Rooted in Taoist philosophy and animal-inspired movement, this system emphasizes the integration of the entire body in every strike—power traveling from the feet, through the spine, and erupting out the hands.
In this course, you’ll learn:
• Foundational Drills & Body Mechanics – Develop the elastic, spiraling power unique to Tong Bei.
• Signature Techniques – Master whipping punches, long-range strikes, and evasive footwork.
• Tong Bei Forms (套路) – Learn and refine traditional sequences that develop coordination, power, and flow.
• Combat Concepts – Explore timing, distance control, and practical applications of Tong Bei techniques.
• Internal Development – Cultivate connection, breath, and intention through traditional methods.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced martial artist, Tong Bei Quan offers a powerful system to enhance fluidity, explosive power, and martial intuition.
The key idea of Tong Bei Quan is to extend our arms through our back and link them together to use them as a powerful weapon. Shaolin Tong Bei Quan combines the characteristics of Shaolin such as the use of explosive power; solid stance work and kick work to the traditional style Tong Bei Quan; a very interesting and powerful combination.
